Recently, I shared ideas for the best children's birthday parties, and it's no surprise that families in Brabant love a good celebration! A recent Kaartje2go study analyzed over 150,000 birthday invitations to reveal how many kids Dutch parents invite by province. Check out their insightful infographic below and see if your habits match your region's average.

As a parent who's organized countless kids' parties, I found this Kaartje2go research fascinating. Here's a breakdown of their findings on birthday invitations across the Netherlands.
North Brabant tops the list: kids there invite an average of 13.5 friends to their parties. In contrast, Groningen children invite the fewest at 6.8. Among municipalities, Zeist leads with 21.5 kids per party, while Assen has the smallest gatherings at 5.6.
Girls invite more friends than boys—12 on average versus nearly 11. Invitations have also declined over time: from 12.8 kids in 2016 to 11.8 at the start of 2018.
Inspired by the Dutch comedy De Luizenmoeder, where schoolyard invitations are banned, policies vary. At our school, they're allowed in the yard but not the classroom. Yet, over 60% of kids still order physical cards for school distribution, and a third send them directly. (I struggle to collect all those addresses myself!)
While the study covers invitations, I've wondered about party norms:
Kaartje2go, founded in 2006, is one of the Netherlands' largest online card shops, sending over 10 million cards yearly—including birthdays, birth announcements, and invitations.
