A Touching Nursery Farewell: Laura's Letter to Her Teachers Before Starting School

As a mom who's navigated the preschool years, I watched my daughter Laura turn 4 and bid a festive goodbye to her beloved nursery. She adored every moment, so we crafted a heartfelt farewell letter to her teachers together. Transitions like this are bittersweet milestones in early childhood.

Laura's Farewell Letter to Her Nursery Teachers

Hello dear teachers,

I'm almost 4 years old now, so it's time for me to leave and start school. I'm so proud and excited! I've had an amazing time with you at nursery, but I'm sad to say goodbye too.

First Days at Daycare

When I was a baby, I started in your baby group. I loved your cuddles and storytime. Mom worried about naps, but I slept fine—sucking my thumb like always. I remember one evening when Mom was late, and we read books on the couch just the two of us. Those moments were magical. Soon, I outgrew the baby group and was ready for the toddler group.

Moving to the Toddler Group at Daycare

There, I met new teachers and friends—it felt exciting yet like a mini-goodbye! 😊 I learned so much, like potty training. I ditched diapers fast; they're for babies, right? Thanks to you, it was smooth.

The toddler group highlights? Playing with dolls, kitchen sets, trains, and crafts. I love outdoor time on my bike or scooter. That summer beach trip by bus—splashing in water and sandcastles—was the best! I enjoy cars too, plus girly fun like dress-up and hair braiding (Mom could take notes!). Drop-offs are tough; I cry sometimes, missing Mom and Dad. But a big hug fixes it quick.

My Friends at Nursery

My best buddy Cas already started school—his nursery farewell happened first. We catch up at after-school care (BSO), and it's great. I still have Jildyz and Paula; we play wildly together. Playing alone? Boring!

Saying Goodbye to Childcare

I'm thrilled you noted everything in my journal—Mom's saving it for me. I love when she reads it aloud; someday I'll read it myself and reminisce.

Dear teachers, thank you for this wonderful time. I cried sometimes, but mostly loved it. I'll miss you and my friends! Thank you—see you soon.

Lots of love and big kisses,
Laura

We baked treats for her nursery farewell, but emotions ran high. As parents, these goodbyes close a chapter. Have you faced similar transitions? Share in comments!
