Free Mother's Day gift especially for children

Mother's Day is just around the corner and nothing is more fun than surprising your mother with a free Mother's Day gift. Instead of spending a lot of money, here are some fun ideas for a free gift. Free Mother's Day gift especially for children, big and small, who want to surprise their mother this year.

What is Mother's Day

Before I start inspiring the perfect and above all free Mother's Day gift, I would like to briefly discuss the origin of Mother's Day itself. Although the original Mother's Day dates back to ancient Greece, the day as we know it today came over from America. In 1870, the American Julia Ward How launched a major publicity campaign to set aside a day for the celebration of disarmament and pacifism.

Unfortunately, the breakthrough for this day did not come until 1907, when Anne Marie Jarvis, also American, began to honor her mother during the Buger War. Not just a tribute, because her mother had taken care of other mothers during the war by providing medicines and goods. Fortunately, this act did not go unnoticed. In 1914, US President Woordrow Wilson decided to declare the second Sunday in May Mother's Day.

Not much later in 1925 this tradition blown over from America to the Netherlands, where this day was seized with both hands. In the Netherlands, the second Sunday in May is also observed as Mother's Day. Other countries, including Belgium, celebrate Mother's Day on a different date.

By now you will be curious about how you can surprise your mother for free. Here are my ideas:

  • If you live outside the city or if you can easily get outside the city, put together a nice bouquet of wild flowers. You don't have to worry about certain flowers not matching each other. The charm of a wild bouquet is precisely the fact that it is composed of all kinds of different flowers. A ribbon around it and a nice drawing or a homemade card and your free Mother's Day gift is ready. Don't forget to put the flowers in water!
  • Let your mother sleep in for a long time. Trust me, that's a really big gift for her. Or give her extra 'me time', so that she can enjoy a warm bath or shower in peace. Or just continue reading that one book in silence
  • Are you normally a slob and your mother is annoyed by all the mess you make? Then make sure your room is spick and span for Mother's Day. Your mother will see this as a great gift and appreciation to her
  • Take over the household chores for 1 day. Empty the dishwasher, vacuum the house or clean up your younger brother/sister's toys
  • Make breakfast in bed or make a full English breakfast for your mother. Set the table, help with the cooking and make sure you also load the dishwasher after dinner
  • Let your mother know how much you love her via Facebook and App. Also make this public as your status.
  • Take your time and craft something nice for your mother. For example, a flower pot from clothespins or make a personalized cotton bag.
  • Cleaning up the garden or mowing the grass is also one of the many options
  • Another option to surprise your mother is by not arguing with your brother/sister this day

A mother does not necessarily need a large/expensive gift. The unconditional love of her children and a day of relaxation are often enough. Perfect to completely relax and enjoy a very successful Mother's Day.
