India Basic Book by Amandip Uppal

I love to cook and bake and have a nice collection of cook and baking books. Recently I was allowed to add a new book to this:basic book India by Amandip Uppal. Curious about this cookbook? Then read on quickly.

The Indian cuisine

We have lived in Suriname for almost 13 years. There it is a mixture of various cultures that all live side by side and with each other. This medley of course affects all of life there. Both on the language, education, holidays and the kitchen. You will find numerous influences from Javanese, Chinese, Creole and Indian cuisine. Fortunately I had a sweet neighbor who taught me how to make a few things. Indian cuisine has always attracted me, not least because of the delicious and healthy spices that are used. When I saw the basic book India by Amandip Uppal I had to have this too.

Basic Book India by Amandip Uppal

The outside of the book has been kept fairly simple, so it may not be immediately obvious that this is a great cookbook. However, if you open the book, you will see a huge difference with the outside. The book contains numerous recipes from Indian cuisine, including naan bread, roti and dal. Everything is covered:vegetarian dishes, dishes with meat and fish, but also recipes for desserts and drinks can be found in the book.

What particularly appealed to me was the explanation of the different herbs. Indian cuisine uses a lot of spices that give the dishes their authentic taste. In many cases the herbs are a mixture of various herbs that are also roasted, for example. In this book you will find all information about this, so that you can put together the necessary herbs yourself. Tips on where to find certain ingredients are also included in the book.

The basic book India is really an addition to my bookcase and the kitchen. My daughter has already baked naan bread a number of times and it is a big favorite here in the house. The taste is excellent and you can eat it with dinner.

About Amandip Uppal

The author of this cookbook is Amandip Uppal. This woman has been in the kitchen since she was seven (in many cultures it is only normal that children learn to cook at an early age). Her mother taught her a lot about North Indian cooking. Amandip's father is an innovative cook, which enabled her to learn new techniques and flavors straight from home. In addition to being the author of this great cookbook, Amandip also owns Chilli Hot  Chocolate, an online cooking and interior design store.
