Tips for capturing memories

Whether it's the holidays, a birthday of your child or a wedding, some memories you never want to lose. Not just for yourself, but also for others. Discover tips for capturing memories

The most important moments in your life are beautiful memories

Many people think of good food or gifts when they think of the holidays. A child is also the first to think of gifts, treats and a children's party for his or her birthday. The most important thing on such a day, however, are the memories you make together. Memories are intangible at first glance, but are worth so much more than any gift. Unfortunately, memories can also fade. That is why it is so necessary to make memories and also to record them.

Tips for capturing memories

Fortunately, nowadays it has become a lot easier to record memories. Every smartphone is equipped with a camera so that you can capture all the highlights in your life on screen. And if your phone does not meet the requirements:a beautiful and even professional camera costs in many cases even less than the latest smartphones. Of course you can perfectly combine a phone and camera.

The following applies to both the phone and the camera:you can not only take photos, but also make videos with it. That way you don't just have a static image, but living memories with moving images and sound. Highly recommended if you have children, because children grow like weeds and can change a lot within a year. And then nothing is more fun than looking back at the images from a year ago to see how much your child has changed.

Of course, you can also get creative and capture memories in other ways. This can be done, for example, by making a painting together, making prints of hands or feet, having a plaster cast made or framing your wedding dress. These are all ways to record a memory.

Share memories with everyone

Chances are that your phone or your camera's SD card is full of thousands of photos. And be honest? How often do you actually look at all these photos? That's a shame! If you really want to keep certain memories alive, it is advisable to select the most beautiful photos and have them printed. This can be done in a small format, so that the photos fit in a photo album, but it is even more fun if you have a large print made of a few selected photos, which you can hang in the living room or bedroom, for example. A good example is a photo on canvas.

When it comes to printing, you can really go either way. If you find a photo on canvas a bit too boring, opt for a photo on wood. That way you can have memories completely customized and adapted to your wishes. And if you're already at it:why not have a beautiful photo printed to hang in the nursery? Children also like to look at memories.

If you print a photo or several photos, you also share these memories directly with others. And what could be more fun than reminiscing the moment a visitor comes to your home and sees the photos hanging on your wall?

Of course, sharing fun days, parties, and highlights in your life doesn't necessarily mean using physical prints. You can do that just fine online. Especially ideal if you have family or friends living abroad. Keep in mind that anything you throw online loses privacy.

Keep memories safe for now and later

Whether you make prints or share all your memories online, one thing is very important:you don't want to lose these memories! And that can happen if you lose your phone, it gets stolen or gets damaged. An SD card can also be lost or damaged. In both cases it is therefore absolutely necessary to make a backup every now and then.

You can easily make a backup with a cable that you connect to your laptop or PC. An SD card is even easier:you plug it into the appropriate port or an external card reader and you can transfer all files with a few clicks of your mouse.

Unfortunately, there is also a major disadvantage:because what can happen to your phone or camera SD card can just as well happen to the laptop. You lose it, it gets stolen or gets damaged to such an extent that you can't get the files back.

It is therefore advisable to always have a backup. You put this backup on an external drive. Preferably opt for an SSD drive, which can take a beating. You can store the SSD drive at home or elsewhere. You can also choose to make multiple backups. For example on your partner's laptop or on your teenager's laptop. That way you have multiple backups, if one fails or no longer works, you at least still have your memories on photos and videos.
