A Mom s Pre-Trip Preparations: Balancing Work, Family, and a Dream Getaway

But there's the flip side: all the meticulous organization this departure demands. You have to earn a break like this—and I'm determined to do just that.

On the work front, prime 'blog trip' opportunities like this rarely align with downtime. As I'm reminded, outside of August, my schedule is always packed. There's never a 'perfect' time!

So, we make it work—much like maintaining that essential work-life balance. I'll pack my laptop and count my blessings for our fantastic new intern stepping in.

At home, four days in the sun means digging out the swimsuit from the closet depths, hoping it still fits, trying it on and quickly removing those extra pounds of hair, booking an at-home pedicure to revive my toes (pun intended—I devoured clownfish for lunch today), and optimizing prep time with my laptop on my lap. It's also about emptying the laundry basket to stock up on clothes for the family (especially for my 12-year-old daughter), filling cupboards, fridge, and freezer. Crafting personalized memos for each family member. Securing a babysitter to fill my shoes—yes, even I'm replaceable for three nights. And, nearing perfection, I've even set up my proxy for the first round of voting (go vote!).

Phew.

Trust me, it takes serious motivation.

And I've got it in spades.

Follow me on Instagram to uncover the destination, feel a twinge of envy, and see if that swimsuit still looks perfect (pick your reaction). It'll be a welcome change from the snow two weeks ago.
