Study Shows Men Fall in Love More Often Than Women: Key Insights

Challenging common stereotypes of emotionally reserved men and sentimental women, research reveals men fall in love more frequently. Commissioned by Häagen-Dazs and conducted by the London School of Life, the study surveyed 2,000 Britons.

Results indicate 51% of men fall in love with more than one woman in their lifetime, versus 45% of women. Just 39% of men have loved only one woman.

Love at First Sight or Lust?

“Men often confuse love with lust. When they speak of love at first sight, it's often lust at first sight,” explains Dr. Drew Pinsky. This echoes a 2011 Match.com study: 54% of men vs. 44% of women reported love at first sight.

Dr. Pinsky adds that women take longer to form new attachments: “Women bear children, making them more biologically—and emotionally—invested.” Yet evolutionary biology influences both genders equally.
