Do politics and love go hand in hand?

In four days, we will know the two candidates for the second round of the presidential elections. In this very political period, a question arises:what is the place occupied by politics in romantic relationships? Thanks to a study conducted by Meetic and Kantar TNS, we know a little more...

Talking politics on the first date?

During the first date, it is preferable that the topics of conversation flow smoothly so that the moment with the (perhaps) future darling goes well. But among these subjects to be discussed, politics has no place for 70% of women and 63% of men. Moreover, for 16% of those questioned, talking about political opinions from the first meetings would present a risk for the rest of the relationship. So if you want to start a love story, a piece of advice:avoid politics!

Being too invested, a risk?

Even if it is better to proscribe it during the first meetings, the policy is not for all that a threat for the future relations. Going out with a very politically invested person would not be a concern for 58% of singles surveyed. It would even make the relationship more interesting and exciting for 17% of respondents. On the other hand, one in four single people think that a person too invested in politics would be too boring. For them, if it's okay to like politics, it shouldn't be talked about too much either.

When opinions diverge…

In four days, when voting, some will surely put a different ballot than that of their partner in the ballot box. This difference in political opinion would not be a problem for a large majority of singles interviewed for this study. In fact, 70% said they wouldn't mind dating someone with other political preferences. But beware, these preferences must not be radical or extremist, in which case it would be a real obstacle to the relationship, for 36% of them. Men are still 42% to believe that love is much more important than politics. It would not be an important criterion in a relationship, for 79% of French people! Phew! And happy voting!
