Parenting a Teenager: My Heart-Pounding Ride on OzIris at Parc Astérix

Becoming a parent of a teenager feels just like boarding OzIris, the flagship roller coaster at Parc Astérix.

That's my firsthand take—after riding it twice in December (yes, I'm still recovering). The great news? I survived intact.

We start in line, watching riders scream and laugh as they zoom past. Hearts race: Will I make it? It looks intense, yet some exit grinning ear to ear.

Our turn arrives. We've anticipated this, lingering in line for those last calm moments. Heart pounding, we board, strap in tight—double-checking the harness (no stress here, really). We've read the parenting books, sought advice from veteran parents, seen others emerge exhilarated.

The climb begins slowly, views breathtaking. This might not be so bad... until that sheer drop looms.

I want off—straight to adulthood, please.

Too late.

We're off: plunging steeply, looping wildly, twisting relentlessly. Control vanishes; senses overload. Height, balance, vision blur amid the chaos. My screams drown everything—voice gone for good, surely.

Suddenly, a brief calm. Relief! But no—another spin hits, tremors unrelenting.

Why so fierce? Maybe the key is surrender: trust the ride, embrace it.

It ends. Harness releases; legs wobble as we disembark. Emotions flood—laughter, tears, hugs. We're alive, bonded, stronger.

That's the teenage parenting finale I eagerly await.

Right now, we're mid-ride on this OzIris of adolescence—my last thrill with her. Twice.

And honestly? I loved every second.
