Returning to Blogging in 2020: Family Milestones, Lessons Learned, and a Positive Outlook

As we kick off 2020, I'm thrilled to return to blogging. My blog is nearing its 12th birthday, but first, in just a few days, my eldest daughter—the one who first made me a mom—turns 15. We've got some special surprises planned... shhh!

I've missed this space dearly. The past three years, I've poured my energy into growing my small business, drifting away from this beloved corner of the internet that began in February 2008. It's evolved so much, and so have I.

Social media keeps me connected—its spontaneity and visual storytelling on Instagram bring real joy. But this blog? It's home, where deeper exchanges happen.

With my children growing up, I've shared less publicly out of respect for their privacy. My teenager's journey has had its ups and downs, but I'm happy to say we're on an upward path now—and committed to it. My youngest is approaching those tween years, and I'm savoring every hug while they last. As a mom with over 14 years of parenting experience, including navigating post-natal depression that inspired this blog, I've gained invaluable wisdom: resilience, perspective, and the power of community. We've rebuilt, stabilized, and grown stronger.

We're starting the year positively, even amid household changes. At 44, with 22 years alongside my partner, supportive family, and dear friends, I face challenges with serenity and inner resources I know I possess.

Long-time readers might do a double-take—this optimism is new! But here's my resolution: this might be the year's only sugary note.
