Our Dedication to Action Enfance: Empowering Vulnerable Children Through Cinema

A few weeks ago, the Action Enfance foundation invited select influencers to amplify their vital missions, particularly the "Action Enfance Fait Son Cinéma" initiative. With some time on my hands in the early hours, I eagerly agreed to support this cause and share it with my audience across my blog and social channels.

This involvement centers on the second edition of "Action Enfance Fait Son Cinéma", launched in 2019. This innovative educational program enables dozens of children and teens from Action Enfance's 15 Villages and Homes to collaborate with film school students (from EICAR, ESRA, 3iS, and CLCF) in creating 15 short films. It introduces them to creative professions, sparking potential vocations and fostering ambition within their communities. Participants take on roles as actors and directors, experiencing professional processes like casting, location scouting, rehearsals, and filming.

Three core themes define this adventure: create, have fun, and dream.

In late February, I visited a filming site near Melun (Seine-et-Marne) with children from the Clairefontaine Home. I brought my own preteens to witness this firsthand, encouraging empathy and gratitude during our vacation. We observed the forest shoot for a script about a zebra struggling with difference—highlighting the young actors' patience and dedication, matched by the professionalism of the EICAR students handling direction, sound, camera, and makeup. The students shared how rewarding the project was, both professionally and emotionally, building genuine bonds with the children.

Afterward, the Clairefontaine Home director hosted us. This facility houses dozens of children in small pavilions (max 6 per group), overseen 24/7 by teams of educators. A hallmark of Action Enfance is keeping siblings together, accommodating all ages—even infants.

His accounts of their traumas—from neglect to abuse—were heart-wrenching, yet eye-opening for my children, putting our privileges in perspective. The educators deserve utmost recognition for rebuilding these kids' trust in adults and providing the love and protection they lacked.

I've shared more on Instagram, but blogs remain ideal for in-depth stories. Soon, the films will be online for voting—your support means the world, offering these children the attention they crave. Follow updates here and on social media through the May gala.
