The youth of today, what a big mouth they have!

Tsss, what I've been through recently… I think I'm getting old! It strikes me how rude today's youth are. Why am I saying that? Because recently I was once again confronted with the youth of today and man, man, man…..I wasn't like that! I'll tell you how it was.

At the moment I am still 1 subject and handing in my thesis is removed from my bachelor degree Creative Business. Since passing my last subject is not very easy, I started taking the lessons again. This means I am in between 17 year olds who can be quite rude to say the least. And then I say it kindly! I may be 'only' 27 years old, but my eyebrows can't rise in surprise when I hear what comes out of their mouths. Let's see if your eyebrows go as high when I tell them what nonsense they are spouting…

My first lesson among 17 year olds

The first lesson. Motivated, I walk into the classroom. Okay, everybody's in the back. I always used to do that and I always made that noise 😉 . I now set other priorities, I sit comfortably in the front, I have my glasses on, my notebook with me and I am all ears. The teacher is not there yet, so let's play eavesdropping. I overhear the next conversation…

Oh yes, I replaced the 'bad' words for flower….that reads a bit nicer.

A conversation between the youth of today

"Yes, man, I hate that 'flower' woman so much. I mean, I just want to get my driver's license without the hassle. She really only whines about parking that 'flower'. She is just as much a 'flower' woman as the 'flower' woman who teaches this lesson'.

Okay…..this doesn't bode well…I think when the teacher comes in. Finally, the lesson can begin! Or not, because after 10 minutes everyone is quiet. The teacher is demonstratively looking at her watch and has already called several times that she wants to start. But the students only stop when they feel like it. Well, that is the youth of today.

The teacher gets a big mouth

The teacher starts her story, but after about 5 minutes a boy and girl in the back start laughing and talking loudly. The teacher asks if they can be quiet for a moment. The girl looks at her with a raised eyebrow, sighs and waves her hand away at the teacher. ‘Yes, go!’ The teacher looks uncertain for a moment and then continues anyway. After a while the girl starts laughing and talking again. 'Yes. Now you go out. We're not going to make noise all the time. I have to be able to teach my lesson', the teacher says, a bit irritated and opens the door of the classroom. Not a good idea, because the youth does not agree with that, or at least not this specific girl.

The girl jumps up angrily and yells at the teacher:'What now? I'm not doing anything right?! Just don't say that! 'flower' madam! Keep going!' There are two more seniors in the class and they turn around, like me, in amazement. What is happening here now?

How rude can they be these days?

The teacher looks uncertain and her hand trembles as she points to the door. 'Come on. Now please go," she says in a trembling voice. The girl looks at her furiously, puts her hands on her hips and yells, "You're not going to make a fuss, are you? Just go on damn it (oh sorry, I had to put 'flower' here), I'll pay you! So go ahead, now!

The teacher looks around uncertainly and says desperately:'No, I really want you to leave. I can't teach like that." "No, I'll stay where I am. I'll pay you, so hurry up," the girl says, sitting down demonstratively. The teacher then turns red and leaves the classroom.

After several minutes of complete silence, the other students start yelling at the girl, "Please go away dude! We want to follow the lesson. We won't be able to pass the job because of you. Come on go away." The girl yells back that they should not interfere and keep their 'flower' shut. After a few minutes of yelling back and forth, the teacher returns. With a red face, she tells the girl to go away and never come back. If she does not do this, she will stop the lesson. Then the other students start yelling even louder at the girl to leave. The girl looks around and finally jumps up angrily:'Hey, everyone get the 'flower'. I'm going, but wait, you're not rid of me yet, "flower"! Stupid 'flower' you are. She then storms out of the classroom and slams the door shut….

I am really perplexed

You are probably thinking:'oh all fiction or exaggerated', but unfortunately it is not. I've never been so tongue-tied. No way that I had such a big mouth at that age. Not at all actually. Then you were just expelled from school! What do you think of this now? Am I exaggerating when I say that I think it's bad that the youth of today do this? I definitely don't want my daughter to do this too! Is this part of his upbringing or is the youth of today just like that?
