This summer, I went all in and took a full month off.
Finally, I truly disconnected… sort of. I silenced social media notifications, but as a business owner, I checked in daily. That's the reality of leadership—your venture never fully pauses. We pour everything into delivering top-quality service, even through August slowdowns.
This break from Paris was restorative, especially after starting my 'rest' in July when the kids headed to their grandparents. I've been upfront: their absence leaves a profound void, yet it's liberating. #ParentalAmbivalence
Separations are healthy and vital for growth. Since they were toddlers, regular stays with grandparents have benefited everyone—grandkids thrive, parents recharge, and family bonds strengthen. This summer upheld the tradition: I welcomed back joyful children, sun-kissed from outdoor play, pool dives, and endless creativity.
Meanwhile, my husband and I took our usual detour en route to pick them up. Between vacation kickoff and reunion, five days vanished. We 'lost' ourselves in Savoie’s mountains, just like two years prior, before driving south.
Highlights included grueling hikes—tens of kilometers climbing, descending, repeating. Pure bliss: challenging limits, awe-inspiring vistas, hours of soul-deep talks, and rediscovering us. Cozy evenings at our chalet hotel featured craft beers and lavish dinners, balanced by next-day trails.
Coming soon: our two sun-sparse weeks in Corrèze, plus our fresh Ireland road trip tales.
How about you? Back-to-school ready? Summer treat you well?
