Our family holidays are officially over. With Region Midden back in school since Monday, my three kids headed off with fresh supplies, new teachers, higher grades, and reunited classmates. Yes, the kids are back in school! Reading Joyce's post about surviving two weeks of vacation at home hit home—I totally get it. Don't misunderstand: I love holidays. But there's something refreshing about the return to routine.
We kicked off the break with a trip to Spain's stunning Costa Brava beaches—pure fun. Back home, though, four more weeks loomed with the kids. Friends were away, so they had to entertain each other.
And that’s where things unraveled, especially the final week 😉. I never planned on a career in law enforcement, but refereeing felt like one. No patience for indoor drama either—nice weather meant straight outside they went. “What do we do then?” my eldest asked. “Grab a ball, hit the park—you managed it half the day at camp, right?” Three sighs and protests later, out they went. They nearly always returned happier.

Holidays meant late nights, pajama mornings, no rush—blissful chaos. The last two weeks, friends returned for playdates that stretched on. But all good things end. The week before school, I started resetting: regular dinner times, bedtimes shifting 15 minutes earlier nightly until normal. Hubby back at work helped too, easing us into that first school week.
