Buy school supplies together; it brings back memories

Oh delicious! Lotte and I (almost) skip through the street of 'our' Schijndel towards the HEMA to buy and order school supplies. I used to think it was fantastic to shop for my own school supplies, but I find that I still like it. Even if it's not for me now, haha. Lotte is making the transition from primary to secondary school this year and new school supplies are a must of course. And Lotte resembles me when it comes to school supplies, I've already seen that.

Because even though group 8 isn't finished yet, she can't wait for the holidays to do her shopping. Her new school supplies have to be taken home already. So we went shopping together last week. And where better to do that than at HEMA. This used to be my favorite store when it comes to school supplies and apparently it still is. I am secretly glad that Lotte still enjoys doing her school shopping with me. She'll probably go out with a girlfriend, but we'll probably have the big stuff in!

Table of Contents

Which school-supplies should you order for first-years?

On her introductory day, Lotte was given a list of things from school that she had to order or buy in the store for her school period. Books, dictionaries and atlas aside, because they come for the most part from the school's main supplier.

To my surprise, there was no agenda on her list. She can buy a school diary, but she can't use it. She gets one from school. In this way, everyone in the seventh grade will soon have the same school agenda. So don't gossip about who has the best (or most expensive) agenda. And in any case, an agenda in which she can put everything, that will probably be. I completely understand the choice and if she wants to make her diary beautiful, then she should pimp it. Will her school diary look a bit nice after all?

Anyway, first the list of school supplies that must be bought for secondary school, also useful for you when you order:

Writing materials, notebooks and more…

Even though she already has some things, she really wanted everything new. Which means that, for example, we also bought a new pencil case for her, in addition to the rest of the school supplies and some things that we had to order. Not completely necessary, but nice.

  • Pencil, pencil, pen, eraser and the like. In terms of eraser we have chosen one that is very soft and super fine erasers!
  • 10 pieces of ruled notebooks
  • 4 A4 notebooks with 1×1 cm squares
  • a 23 ring binder
  • casio fx82 ms calculator, also from HEMA
  • Passer, triangle, scissors and pritt marker
  • Earphones (already had them, but will need them in high school)
  • A pair of studded shoes for outdoor gym, and a pair of shoes for indoor sports
  • drawing folder with ribbons or elastic (30×40 cm) and a 2b pencil

Apart from the drawing folder and sports shoes (we had to order), we were able to buy all school supplies at our favorite store, the HEMA , even the compass has a matching color!

What-themes of-school-supplies can you order?

HEMA regularly works with all kinds of cool themes when it comes to ordering school supplies. I love it because it means you can mix and match. This year the palm trees, the plants and the pastel colors are in. And in terms of stickers, we have a jungle theme. Lotte has chosen to order her school supplies in different pastel shades, mixed pink and mint green. Real girl-girl, but you also have nice cool black school supplies or, for example, natural brown, I always find that very beautiful. But I understand that girls choose the pastel color.

Pimping up your school-diary and school-supplies

You can also go to HEMA to pimp the school diary and the other school supplies that have been ordered. From stamps to stickers and from nice cover paper to sticky notes and the like. You can't think of it as crazy as they have it. Also super fun:we are also going to work with the Cricut to pimp her school supplies. For example, I'm thinking of marking out which subject it is on a large scale on her books. So not written on a small sticker (can also be handy of course), but nice and striking in large letters. More on that later. Cover the books first!

In any case, we enjoyed it. First nice lunch together and then into the store. Have you already bought the school supplies or are you going to order them easily online? And if so… what beauty have you brought into your home?
